Another historical request - can anybody help with this? The Walsh Family of Kinsalebeg and MoordUp until a few years ago Ben Walsh from London had never seen any photographs of his great grandparents, Anastasia and Patrick Walsh, who were born and raised around Kinsalebeg and Moord, nor his grandparents’ wedding in London from 1913.It was only when his cousin Clare sent him photographs from their second cousin, Brian Walsh in the US, that he started to become interested in his Irish roots.Ben says “Brian had done an amazing job of piecing together the history of the Walsh family. His grandfather, John, had emigrated to the US in 1910 and mine, Maurice, had joined the Royal Navy in 1906 and then become a policeman in London. From the photographs he shared it was clear that the family stayed connected despite the vast distances.” Hecontinued “It was only when I saw the photos of my great grandparents did I then feel any form of connection to Ireland. Now I want to see where the Walshes come from and get afeel for the area and its people. I want to hear what local people sound like too. Hopefully, it will help me build a picture of their lives.”During his research, Ben was delighted to discover that his grandfather’s service with the Royal Navy was listed on the local history website - History of Kinsalebeg. It also lists thatPatrick Walsh was buried in the Kinsalebeg Churchyard in 1941.Ben and other family members will be visiting the Youghal and Kinsalebeg area in early January 2026. The family are hoping to find the cottage in Moord where the Walshes lived and visit the churchyard where their great grandfather is buried. They would love to connect with other Walsh family members who may live in the area too. If any Walshes would like to get in touch with him, he can be contacted by email atbenedictjwalsh@yahoo.co.uk ... See MoreSee Less
