Ballycurrane NS gets the green light for an extension
As it has just been given the go-ahead from the Department of Education to build on a new classroom and ancillary rooms, hopefully this should spell the end of the existing portacabin on the school grounds. Although it has served the community well over the past decade or churning out fine students ready for life in secondary schools in Dungarvan.& Youghal. The Beast from The East and both Storm Ophelia back in the Autumn have taken their toll, so the grant is just in time as the decade old portacabin on the site is at the end of it tether,
Timeline
All going well plans should be drawn up in the next few months or so, then the project must go to tender with work starting hopefully by year-end 2018 or very early 2019.
Other events at the school

Only recently the school has been awarded their 3rd Green Flag(Water Conservation) by An Taisce. these actions are for promoting a long-term, whole-school action for the environment Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community.
Gas Heating Installed
Over the past 12 months or so the school has benefited form the installation of natural gas central heating, the old system of storage heaters was outdated and the gas heating proved to be much more responsive to the environmental conditions which will have long-term cost saving and environmental benefits.
What the future holds for Ballycurrane NS
With all these great things happening and the now endorsement from the Department of Education with the grant, Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Bríd Baile Uí Chorráin is no doubt up there with the rest of them and definitely here to stay for the long-term.
