Clashmore and Kinsalebeg Community CouncilA Year of Heart and Hard Work: Our Community in 2025As the decorations go up and the year draws to a close, Clashmore and Kinsalebeg Community Council would like to send a massive thank you to everyone who lent a hand, attended an event, or got involved this year. You are what makes this community a better place to live.We wish every one of you a very Happy Christmas and a safe, prosperous New Year.💪 Keeping Us Moving & HealthyOur goal is to make staying active easy and fun for everyone. The Community Gym, run in partnership with the GAA, is as popular as ever. We’ve also been busy working with the Waterford and Wexford Education Training Board (ETB) to bring some fantastic learning opportunities to the village, including:Fitness for All: Expert-led courses with our brilliant trainer, Carmel O’Keeffe.Mind & Body: Relaxing yoga sessions and a Healthy Eating course where local Youghal Chef, Luigi, shared his kitchen secrets.Art and Conversation: Where the chat is as important as the Art.New Clubs: We’re delighted to have launched the Badminton Club this year, while our Petanque Club continues to grow from strength to strength.🌿 Protecting Our PatchWe want to leave this beautiful corner of the world better than we found it. This year, we've secured vital grants to help us mind our environment:Reclaiming the Riverside: We are tackling the Japanese Knotweed that’s been creeping along the Riverside Walk in Clashmore.Remembering our Past: We celebrated Heritage Week with a range of events including launching the Ice House Walk.Biodiversity on the Farm: We’re working with local farmers and landowners to find new ways to welcome nature back into their daily activities.Clean Rivers & Coastlines: Our local National Schools are doing a great job monitoring our river quality. We were also proud to fund their trips to the seaside to help clear rubbish from our beaches.🏆 The Heart of the VillageCommunity is all about showing up for one another, and 2025 gave us plenty of reasons to celebrate:All-Ireland Champions! A huge congratulations to our Clashmore Petanque Team for their incredible national win. More importantly, the club has been a wonderful way for neighbours of all ages to meet for the first time.Making Memories: From the green of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade to the spooks of the Halloween Walk and the festive Christmas Fair, it’s been a joy to see the community come together.A Visit from Santa: We were honoured to help Father Christmas deliver selection boxes to every single child in our three local schools.🏗️ Building for TomorrowWe’re working hard behind the scenes to secure funding and keep our local facilities in top shape:The Old Schoolhouse: Refurbishment is officially underway! We’re working closely with the Strings and Things Committee and the Church to bring this iconic building back to life.New Pathways: The walkway around the new GAA field is moving along, with the project now out to tender.Expanding our Groups: We’re thrilled to support the Crafty Evening and we’re especially excited to welcome the newly formed Women’s Shed to the community.Planning for 2026: We recently took part in a Community Research pilot (using the Place Standard tool), which will help us plan even better for our Community’s needs in 2026 and beyond.Thank you for a wonderful 2025. See you in the New Year! ... See MoreSee Less
