2018 Thorn of Clashmore Crowned

2018 Thorn of Clashmore

Saturday night 27th October was the night for a fundraising event on behalf of Marymount Hospice Cork and ARC House Cancer Services Youghal which raised well in excess of Five Thousand Euro for the good causes, the fundraiser held at the Old Still in Clashmore village consisted of 15 All-Male contestants dressed in drag competing for the title of Thorn of Clashmore. An auction was also held after the contest in the bar and the night’s festivities ended with a street race from the top of the Village back down to the bridge between Donal ‘Underpants’ O Connor and Wally ‘Wellies’ Prendergast.

Thats Patsy on the right 😉

Patsy Fleming was Master of Ceremonies and at 7:30pm sharp the style made their way to the stage to be interviewed. James Fitzgerald knocked out a few tunes as the participants made their way to the stage and Patsy put all the girls at ease with his softly spoken voice and thoughtful questions but some of the girls wanted a bit more action and poor Patsy was assaulted on more than one occasion on the night, as the night rolled on the 15 gallantly dressed competitors who showed up in a variety of fashion from hippie to elegant to gowns that should have been left in the press.

The lovely ladies

The winner is !

Flashy lights wowed the Judges !
In the end of the day there can be only one winner and Tomas Cunningham stole the show with his revealing outfit plus the fact that he was able to walk in high heels ! The judges commented on how much effort he had put into his outfit and what really won them all over was the fact that Tomas had adorned his head with flashing lights “The way he embraced technology really brings the competition into the 21st century” remarked one of the Judges.

Thanks to all involved

A special thanks to all involved for their time and effort with the event.
